Poem: Sweet Ginny, sitting alone on a bench in the crowd
With your shield of children...
Been there myself...Felt the same pain...An image in my discarded rearview mirror
Ya know that tired vacant 40 something look
A different page in the same tragic book
A book I lived, bought and paid for
with angry tears, loneliness and misery...
We swapped numbers willingly…You seemed so happy
When I called we talked awkwardly...A while later we were telling each other our life stories...
Till I asked about going to a movie...
You have no energy - your children come first -you said…I understand...
Yes, Ginny I understand...You are completely confused and angry...Your unrepentant ex-husband’s heinous sin...Shattered your trust in any man...

It is so sad...So easy to understand...You’re terrified and want to be alone...Who can blame you?
Told me I could phone...I said the same…

Said you would see me in Church...No you won’t...I can’t see you...I can’t call you...
I’m finally smart enough to stay away...From so much unresolved cargo...It’s not you…It’s me...I’d want to come to your rescue...

No one can work through this but you
All I can do is listen if you call…...
