Poem: Death becomes her delicate face
Followed, haunted by elegance and grace
As though rose petals had fallen from the sky
Bruising her cheeks with soft glow in their descent
Then bathing her in their rich sweet scent
Long slender fingers clutch a single red, red rose
Each thorn perfectly stained in dark, dark blood
Nail like pearls shimmer still brightly
Like the violet eyes that used to shine
Now hidden beneath slowly greying lids
They fade forever, the light gone out
And yet though her skin deathly pale
And though her heart long since stopped
And though her flowing dress, once white, now red
Her beauty is still radiant, immeasurable
Echoing, disturbing, haunting
She is no more than a shell of her true self
But she remains my dream and I remain hers...
