So many nights, for so long a face swirled Thru the depths of my smoky hazy dreams. You looked me straight in the eye and lied. Hearing the line I’ll try to call you more Hoping each time it would be true Hiding away in the shadows. Frustration killing me til I’d give up You’d call to say, “I think we can work things out” Sending me a birthday card To my best friend, love always it read I’d rip off scabs that were about to heal You’re concrete pouring in the rain Unpredictable Lake Champlain weather So much trouble and pain Swimming with sharks smelling the blood Cutting with anonymous words Recounting every word you ever said Complete with embarrassed regrets Everything dredged up again Things I can’t explain Now or then Stupidest thing I've ever done Best to leave it all be Best to…Wish you...And everyone Well on their journey... |
