I looked for the magic line...To keep him from leaving that night...Tongue tied twisted alone in my bed...Will I ever sleep without dreaming again... Heavy head hung low...I stagger out of bed to the phone...Useless I know...The answering machine again... Flick the switch...Words pour to the keyboard screen... I’ll put it all in white and black...His favorite colors...Complete with smiling regrets...A suitcase packed in the back of my brain...The tears falling down like California rain... A poison poinsettia Louise became...Drew him past the end of love...With some meaningless mystical May December romance... Know all about cold hard steel...And cleats pressing on skin...Walking over the ones who love you... Alex, I’ve ended at the beginning...A place we called home...Strike three you’re out... Alex, I want you know...I’ve found a final resting place to bury the broken pieces my heart has become...Under third base at Yankee Stadium...... |
