Title: I try not to cry
Author: ann smith
Date Submitted: 6/18/2005

Poem: Deep mysterious draining depression,
it creeps up behind you,
envelops you without warning.

No reason, just because suddenly
I cannot bear to rise.
The thought of joining the world,
today, it is too much,
but I must.
Oh they groan, she's sad again.
I try on my different masks,
perfect mother, perfect wife
but the fear still rises
bubbling just beneath the surface.

Please don't cry, try not cry,
just get through the day,
hang on as best as I can,
it will soon lift
and I may smile again....
