Sleep evades my longing for its grasp. The lust for nothingness is out of reach. Sleep, to hide, to heal, and Time to dream To linger in the earlier days - Of life and love and laughter. Dreams to elude the darkness Dank dull grey; Leaves rustle, above a yowling cat. Hide in the pillow Shelter in the shield of a sheet. Shadows obscure a wintry dark And precious peace is Still denied... |
