She sat inside her glass case, high up on the shelf. I longed to take her out and keep her to myself. Pure and white her skin was flawless, but only from afar. Hundreds of hairline fractures ran across both her tiny arms. Two eyes that stare into something only she can see A smile painted on her face, didn’t she look so happy? She wasn’t able to speak, but sometimes I thought I heard her scream, nothing is as perfect as it may seem Such a beautiful creature, spending nineteen years alone This torture needed to end, and she couldn’t do it on her own I picked her up carefully, and told her at least one of us wouldn’t live like this anymore. I shut my eyes and I dropped her, Now she is a million pieces on the floor. ... |
