Withering, fading Tears cascading Unchecked, down both cheeks Hands clasped, like the meek and the mild, As was taught when she was but a child. Words are murmured, almost silently “Reverse this”, beseeched of her Deity Repeated again and again For ’twas more than a friend that was lost that day; ’twas her daughter the angels took away. No reversals, it can’t be undone She lifts her head towards the Sun “Sleep, baby, sleep” she prays The shroud of grief now melts against its warm rays “Sleep gently and fear no harm, We’ll miss you always, but don’t be alarmed: For one day, we too shall come to end of the path. We’ll have cheated Death, and enter the most enchanting clearing. Take comfort in th’ rainbows, angels and fairies For we’ll see you yet, But whilst we’re mortal, ne’er shall we forget, the life that you lived and the joy, like no other, for you were my one and only – my darling daughter.” ... |
