Title: Inside The Mind of a Bipolar Maniac
Author: Melanie
Date Submitted: 7/20/2015

Poem: My mind is like an ocean,
Where every exciting wave
Is swallowed by the motion
Of the tides throughout the day.

My reasoning presses to move me
Toward frequent unattainable goals.
And I debate, “That could be easy,
But will it satisfy my soul?”

Though the whirling thoughts consume,
I seem to know my place.
Avoiding the urge to presume,
Giving big decisions their space.

It’s the little decisions to watch for,
Overwhelming at every turn.
For those, I rely on my core,
And my fervent desire to learn.

I’ll make it through this manic state,
Of that we can be sure.
And when it’s through, if not too late,
My sanity I hope to secure....
