Poem: You were born. You grew.
People told you that you were special.
Gifted. You excelled.
But never happily.
From earliest memory, It was there.
A fear and dread that you could not name.
And It grew stronger.
A hole in your very being that you could not fill.
And It took over.
An emptiness and loneliness that you had never known.
You spun downward. Chaos became your norm.
Struggling, you reached out. Your descent slowed.
Relieved. Steadied. You peered upward.
But you relaxed for an instant. And you fell. Again.
It consumes you now.
You draw a breath.
Before the descent begins again....
