As of yet, she beleives she is not there, Her eyes off in the distance, More like two swans making love in the lake Or two raindrops falling To their passionate death In someone''s old birdbath In a front yard Decorated with marble and consequences. The clouds move to the east, And she closes her eyes. Her eyelashes become small feathers With which to wipe away her tears And she sleeps silently With the storm off in the distance. A fire burns within her as she sleeps And the sun sets without her. Every blade of grass sweeps her away In her dreams And the birds sing lullabyes to her. She is a bird, Alone in the sky Too alone to sing to herself And afraid of ever looking back, Afraid of ever falling forward And her life becomes nothing But a song; whispered in the wind.... |
