Poem: I stand alone on a treeless hill
Nothing but green grass surrounds
The sky above is a patchwork of clouds
Clouds heavy with the threat of rain

Thoughts racing like a train
On a journey that has no end
Thunder booms in the near distance
Shattering the stillness of the night

I shake and quiver with fright
Uncertainty grips my mind
Halting the racing journey of thoughts
Fear permeates my being

Clenched eyes blocking what I am seeing
For out of the darkness something approaches
It comes stealthily closer
Trapping me with its glare

I can do nothing but stare
My feet are rooted to the ground
Willing myself to move
A wolf it seems to be

With its hungry eyes focussed on me
Finally I am able to move
Running and screaming down this treeless hill
On a journey to safety....
