Wake in the haze of dawn''s mystification The five a.m. perplexity Coffee the elixir of consciousness I crawl like the human animal that I am from my futon The joy of not waking void Laying in wait to know what to do next Not knowing the day Saved from psychotic arousal And like a meandering stream my day unfolds Creature duties Injected with a line or two of today''s mental map Removed by over a half century, by the progenitor that gave me life I''m them now, senior years and final acts with my progeny. ... |
