Poem: I was a child curled up behind the cook stove
Six decades removed, five years old
How all the time transposed me into you
I became what I viewed
Genes threaded and knotted like rosary beads
I''m almost cursed
Once my fixation, now my reflection
Angst locked away in your skullcap
You secretly knew I was your shadow box
I preserved your own childhood
So you could enjoy incognito
I''m now a caricature of your past
Quietly in your torment
Enduring my demise with a smile
Showing the attrition through my aging photo shots
Enduring with a grin and loving attestation
I thank you for giving me a worthwhile endeavor
You are truly my loving Grandfather
Laying in your box of death
The church bell tolls ...
