Poem: I had my day
With just a pinch of fame
Sometimes a snicker behind my back
Didn''t know any better
Just a young man then
From the heartland
St Louis
Listen to the blues
Sleeping drunk in a used car lot
On nights I was lucky enough to find an unlocked door
Occasionally girls took me home for the night
Loved the ladies, in all their naked beauty
Couldn''t work, nerves still can''t but an inning or two
We were children together
Screwed our way into lives of love
Young men and women
Who grew up to have families
It''s just music to my soul
I''m in love with all of you
There never was enough ...
